Respect the traditional of indigenous people
By Vorn Kongkear

The construction of the bridge represents not only a physical road connection, but also a heartfelt link between conservation efforts and the local community. On February 12, 2026, community members and relevant authorities gathered to celebrate a traditional indigenous ceremony to pray for good fortune and to officially inaugurate the “REDD+ O’Rovak Bridge.”

This meaningful event was attended by the Director of the Phnom Prech Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary Office, NatureLife Cambodia (NLC) staff, rangers, members of the Rovak Community Protected Area (CPA) Committee, the Village Chief, elders, and local villagers approximately 25 participants in total.

Financially supported by the REDD+ project, the REDD+ O’Rovak Bridge is not only a significant achievement that improves accessibility for community members and rangers during patrols but also reflects respect for and appreciation of the indigenous people’s beliefs and cultural traditions in the region.
