Balot of Boeng Tonle Chhma Ramsar site officially recognized as a Community Protected Area
NatureLife Cambodia would like to congratulate the Balot community, which has recently been recognized by the Ministry of Environment as an official Community Protected Area (CPA) located in Boeng Tonle Chhma Ramsar site over an area of 65 hectares. Located in Tonle Sap of Kampong Thom, Balot CPA has been working closely with rangers of Boeng Tonle Chhma Ramsar site to monitor biodiversity and prevent illegal cases in the community boundary and Ramsar site. This ministerial decree recognizes the full right of the community to contribute to the conservation of natural resources and to be able to sustainably use the natural resources in the community area following its bylaw. NatureLife Cambodia in collaboration with Kampong Thom provincial department of environment is supporting this community to develop and implement their CPA management plan. Thanks to European Union-Our Tonle Sap project for providing financial support for this activity through NatureLife Cambodia.
