Lomphat REDD+ project finish first validation

From the 6th to the 11th of August 2023, SCS Global (an independent validation and verification company) completely conducted a field visit to the Lomphat REDD+ Project site. During this first validation trip, various meetings for all parties from all primary stakeholder groups were held, including; the Deputy Governors of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri Provinces, the Provincial Department of Environment and Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary management teams of both provinces, the Deputy Governors of Lomphat and Koh Nheak Districts, the Commune Chiefs of Sre Angkrong, Serei Mongkol, Chey Otdam, Roya, and Nang Khi Leuk, Village Chiefs of Phum Mouy, Phum Pir, Phum Bei, Srepok Thom, Thmei, Sre Chhouk, Sre Chrey, and Roveak villages, CPA committee representatives from the O’Koki, Veal Kambor, and O Rey CPAs, Local Biodiversity Conservation Group and Village Marketing Network representatives from Sre Chrey, Srepok Thom, and Thmei, as well as a number of PA Rangers, and a broad range of local community members.
The SCS team visited a number of the forest inventory plots to view the plots and check the methodologies used, and visited to some forest sites to see and understand more about the various types of forest strata and land-use found in the Project Area. On the last day of the visit, the SCS team also met with USAID Morodok Baitang Chief of Party. NatureLife Cambodia and BirdLife International will revise the PDD based on recommendations of this VVB in next few months.
