Exploring Collaboration and Strengthening Cashew Deforestation Free-Processing

By Ngin Viryak

On July 21, 2026, with facilitation from NatureLife Cambodia, a delegation from Olam visited the Chey Odom Natural Cashew Community in Lomphat District, Ratanakkiri Province, to explore potential collaboration and discuss opportunities to purchase fresh, dried, and semi-finished cashew products from the community in 2027.

During the visit, Olam also inspected the community’s cashew plantations and tested the farmer registration system. The technical staff of Olam also provided technical training to 10 members of the community committee on how to operate the semi-finished cashew processing machine at the community factory. This technician from Vietnam demonstrated the use of the shelling machine, cashew scooping system, wind-powered equipment, drying techniques, and other processing methods.

The community members actively participated and gained practical knowledge to operate the equipment more efficiently and improve the quality and value of their cashew products.

NatureLife Cambodia appreciates Olam’s engagement and looks forward to further collaboration to support cashew deforestation free in Lomphat landscape.
