Protecting What We Planted
By Roeun Vanthet and Vorn Kongkear

After a successful sapling planting earlier this year, our focus has now shifted to what matters most protecting and nurturing these young trees

In December 2025, with financial support from Lomphat REDD+ project, NatureLife Cambodia (NLC), together with Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary rangers, local communities, and scouts, carried out grass cutting and site cleaning across the reforestation plots. These actions are essential to reduce wildfire risks during the dry season and to give saplings the best chance to grow by minimizing competition for water and nutrients.

Earlier, in June and July 2025, more than 10 hectares were restored in the O’Nhaw and Sre Chrey areas of LomphatWildlife Sanctuary Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces. But our work doesn’t stop at planting, We are committed to ensuring these young trees grow into healthy forests for future generations.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all community members and partners for their dedication and resilience in protecting our natural heritage, even under challenging conditions.
