Vulture restaurant at Lomphat REDD+ project site always welcome red headed vulture

By Him Khunny

Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary is a critically important landscape that supports several Critically Endangered species, including the Red-headed Vulture.

Through strong collaboration between NatureLife Cambodia and the Ministry of Environment, we are working to ensure the survival of wildlife while also improving local livelihoods. One of our key conservation initiatives is the vulture restaurant, which receives financial support from the Lomphat REDD+ Project.

Each month, one cow carcass is provided as supplementary food for Red-headed Vultures. In January 2026, three Red-headed Vultures and two Woolly-necked Storks were recorded accessing the feeding site.

The Lomphat REDD+ Project not only protects forests but also plays a vital role in ensuring the survival of Critically Endangered vulture species within this important landscape.

Protecting Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary means protecting biodiversity, restoring ecosystem balance, and securing a greener future for generations.
