Economic land concession company encourages their worker to participate in wildlife conservation

Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary: On April 25, 2026, NatureLife Cambodia, in collaboration with THACO AGRI, organized an awareness meeting on “Value of Endangered Wildlife Conservation and the commitment of THACO AGRI in Establishing and Managing the Conservation Area.”

This awareness raising meeting was attended by Mr. Mogn Pech, Acting Project Manager of NatureLife Cambodia, and Mr. Hieu Tran Quoc, Head of Planning at THACO AGRI. There were a total of 246 participants, including 84 women.

The main objectives of this meeting were:
1. To raise awareness among company workers about the importance of biodiversity conservation, especially for those working near conservation areas within the Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary.
2. To strengthen collaboration between the ELC company, workers, conservation NGO and the O Rey Community Protected Area in order to ensure effective and sustainable protection of natural resources.
The main agenda in this event including videos show about protecting rare and endangered wildlife species, presentations on why biodiversity conservation is important, and information about protected area laws. To measure the level of understanding, a quiz with gift were also added. Participants actively join quiz session, it mean that most participants had a good understanding of conservation.

This awareness-raising meeting was the first large-scale event that received close cooperation from both ELC company leaders and workers. On this occasion, a representative of THACO AGRI, Mr. Hieu Tran Quoc, expressed a strong commitment to supporting conservation efforts, especially action to protect 25 hectares of their leasing land where company already agreed to set aside for conservation and provide safe habitat for Sarus Crane and other wildlife species.

The active participation and cooperation of the company and its workers demonstrate is a new collaboration step
among government agencies , the private sector, conservation and local communities in ensuring the effectiveness and sustainable of conservation actions. We hope that this kind of collaboration will provide positive result for wildlife conservation in Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary especially to vulnerable Sarus Crane!
